What Are Religious Accommodations?
Religious accommodations are reasonable adjustments made to policies, schedules, or practices that enable individuals to participate fully in their sincerely held religious beliefs or practices. These may include:
- Time off or schedule changes to observe religious holidays or practices
- Exceptions to dress codes
- Other modifications that enable religious observance without compromising academic or institutional standards
How to Request a Religious Accommodation
Students seeking religious accommodations must follow these steps:
- Complete the Online Request Form
to the Office of Access & Accommodations (OAA). - Attend an Initial Intake Appointment
Once your form is received, an OAA staff member will contact you via email to schedule a required Initial Intake Appointment. This meeting helps determine reasonable accommodations and ensure your request is fully understood. - Provide Supporting Information
Be prepared to describe the religious belief or practice and the specific accommodation(s) you are requesting (e.g., class absence, exam rescheduling, dress code adjustment).
